Product Description
ASD-001 is a macroporous strong acid cation exchange resin with sulfonic acid groups on a polystyrene-divinylbenzene matrix, supplied in Na+ or H+ form. Landfill leachate and other high strength wastewaters often carry ammonia nitrogen loads that inhibit biological treatment; ASD-001 removes ammonium ions in a controlled pretreatment step so the downstream biological process can perform at design efficiency.
- Removes ammonium nitrogen from high strength streams, protecting nitrifiers from free-ammonia inhibition.
- Macroporous structure handles the high total dissolved solids and organic load typical of leachate.
- High exchange capacity reduces the number of regeneration cycles per cubic meter of leachate treated.
- Can be operated in lead-lag vessels for continuous duty with sequential regeneration.
- Regenerant management is flexible - brine or acid regenerant can be routed to further nitrogen recovery or treatment.
- Spherical, attrition-resistant beads keep media losses low even with aggressive backwash regimes.

- Landfill leachate pretreatment before aerobic or anaerobic biological stages.
- High strength industrial wastewater from food processing, tanneries and chemical plants.
- Reject water (centrate/filtrate) from sludge dewatering at municipal plants.
- Ammonia recovery projects where the spent regenerant is further processed into ammonium salt by-products.
- Emergency ammonia load control during biological process upsets.
