Product Description
Sphelite ASD-35 Primary Amine Resin for Marine Exhaust Gas CO2 Capture
Shipping is under pressure to cut carbon intensity, and the exhaust of a main engine carries 4-7 % CO2 on top of the SOx already handled by a scrubber. Sphelite ASD-35 is a macroporous primary amine resin on a crosslinked polystyrene matrix that captures CO2 from cooled exhaust gas in a fixed bed, which suits the limited space, motion and waste heat profile of a vessel far better than a tall solvent absorber.
Application Scope
ASD-35 fits on board post combustion capture on container, bulk and tanker vessels, closed loop scrubber integration where the gas is already cooled and washed, and shore side test rigs used to validate capture rate before a fleet retrofit. It is also used on floating production and storage units where exhaust gas CO2 must be trimmed for emission reporting.

Why ASD-35 Performs Here
Built for chloride exposure
The polymer matrix and amine group tolerate the chloride laden, humid gas that leaves a marine scrubber, so capture capacity does not collapse after the first washing stage.
Fits a ship's space and motion
A fixed resin bed needs no tall absorber or solvent sump and is unaffected by vessel motion, which keeps the capture unit inside an existing engine room envelope.
Uses waste heat
Regeneration runs at low temperature, so jacket water or exhaust economiser heat is enough to drive desorption without extra fuel burn.
Low maintenance
With no solvent inventory there is no foaming, no amine make up and no corrosion inhibitor dosing, which matters when crew time and spare storage on board are limited.
Packing, Delivery & Service
Standard export packing is 25 kg per bag, 40 bags (1 ton) per pallet, with custom drum or big bag packing available on request. Lead time is about 10 working days after payment, and our technical team supports loading calculations, pressure drop estimates and pilot column trials before you scale up.
FAQ
Q1. Can the resin be used with an existing scrubber?
A: Yes. Placing the capture bed downstream of a closed loop scrubber is the most common arrangement, because the gas arrives cooled and washed, which is exactly the condition ASD-35 needs.
Q2. How is regeneration heat supplied on board?
A: Low temperature steam or hot water from the jacket water circuit or exhaust economiser is sufficient. Our engineers help size the heat exchanger duty for your engine load profile.
Q3. Do you support shipboard trials?
A: Yes. Trial quantities from 1 kg are available and we can advise on a compact pilot column so capture rate and pressure drop are measured on your own exhaust line.
Specifications above are typical values from routine production and can be adjusted to meet a specific project requirement. Please confirm the working conditions with our technical team before ordering.
